Marionette lines take their name from marionette puppets. These lines run from the corners of the mouth down to the chin and resemble the mouth of a puppet to create a ‘jowly appearance’. These lines are caused when the skin loses elasticity due to ageing, fat pads descend, and skin volume decreases. Weight loss can also cause marionette lines, when fat is lost from the face and causes crease lines from the mouth to chin.

The problem with marionette lines is that they tend to show emotion, even if we are not trying to express anything. Unfortunately, this may lead others to believe that you are tired, sad or angry. Thankfully a little dermal filler helps to soften these lines, creating a smoother, firmer, more youthful jawline.

Dermal fillers containing hyaluronic acid provide structure and support to the skin to reduce these lines. Fillers not only help to improve the appearance of these deep lines, but they restore and moisturize skin in this area. They work by providing extra fullness to the area where these lines are apparent.
